Kindergarten & 1st Grades created leaf rubbings in warm and cool colors & made symmetry monsters.
November
3rd & 4th grades studied leaves and created leaf stamps in warm colors. Backgrounds were oil resist watercolors in cool colors.
2nd & 3rd grades learned about light and shadow and created symmetrical shadow pieces.
5th grade created watercolor paintings from their field trip to Lake Mary. 6th grade did watercolors from images of Zion, Capitol Reef, and Snow Canyon Parks.
5th & 6th grades made pop-up books
EVERYONE worked hard and did a beautiful job on their ceramic pieces!
The creativity of some of these 6th grade coil pots just blew me away!
2nd & 3rd grades read "Snowballs" and created winter birds with three different painting techniques to assemble their collaged pieces.
December
Kindergarten & 1st grade read "Snowmen at Night" and learned to do crayon resist and salt technique watercolors for their snowmen scenes.
4th & 5th grades read "Snowflake Bentley" and learned to make geometrically correct snowflakes.
Plus, they contributed to making this amazing bulletin board to ring in 2022!
January
Kindergarten & 1st grade learned about Vasily Kandinsky and abstract art.
2nd grade made self-portrait snow angels
5th & 6th graders learned about creating 3-D effects by using curved lines and effective shading with highlights, midtones, and shadows.
3rd grade created woven bookmarks
4th graders chose a favorite animal and crafted environmental tunnel books.
February
Kindergarten and 1st graders looked creatively at shapes and snippets. We also discussed Chinese New Year and created symmetry with lanterns.
2nd grade made multimedia collaged cityscapes for Chinese New Year
3rd graders are currently creating paper mache donuts
4th graders are weaving bowls.
5th & 6th graders expanded their 3D shading techniques to learn how to draw forms with shadows.
